INGREDIENTS: Makes: As many as you like
•Your favorite wiener:
Beef, Pork, Turkey, Kosher, Brats if you're feeling Germanic. You will need at least 2 per person
•Buns:
As many as you have hot dogs.
•Condiments:
Here is where you can let your imagination free flow. Aside from mustard, onions, ketchup, pickle
relish, sauerkraut, and chili, you can try different cheeses, peppers (hot, sweet, fresh or pickled),
or use whole wheat buns, or a wrap, or maybe a tortilla. You can try Pita bread, Hoagie buns, or go
Asian and wrap that baby in a lettuce leaf. You may want to wrap it in crescent roll, a pastry dough
wrapper, or go crazy and wrap in phyllo dough. Don't forget to try different spices, like oregano or
basil, cilantro, chipotle, or use different mustards. Are you getting the idea? There are a myriad of
hot sauces you can try.
•As for sides:
Potatoes come to mind first. French fries, potato salad, Hush Puppies. Stuffed, baked, potato chips or
even hash browns. Try fresh vegetables like corn on the cob, If you don't have chili on the dog, serve a
bowl on the side. Oh what the hell, serve it on the side anyway. That is what the 4th of July is all
about. You are free to do what you want and celebrate it how you want. And you can make that dog
look and taste any way you want.
